Easy Way to Give Back to Local Animals This Season

The most difficult part of the holiday season for me is always taking down the Christmas tree. I love seeing all the family ornaments, love sitting at night by the soft glow of the lights and parting with all of that really means the season is over.

If you feel the same, then lucky for us there is a farm in Tiverton, Rhode Island that just might make parting with the Christmas tree a little less sorrowful.

That's because at West Place Animal Sanctuary, the trees go to a good cause. Feeding the goats, sheep, donkeys, alpacas, cows and pigs that call this farm home.

Folks from a local tree farm recently dropped off a few unsold Christmas trees for a post-holiday treat for the animals and as you can see from this video, they loved it.

They could be loving your Christmas tree too.

West Place Animal Sanctuary is looking for donated trees after they have been taken down for the season. It might just be the easiest way to give back to the farm all year.

Simply make sure you remove all ornaments, tinsel, hooks and lights from your tree. No treated trees can be donated either. Then contact the sanctuary through their Facebook page and drop off your tree when convenient.

Of course if you are an artificial tree person, you can still help the sanctuary out too. The farm is always taking donations through their Facebook page and anything made before the end of the year can be a tax deduction in the new year, win-win right?

So as you prepare to take the decorations down for this year, think about making some local animals happy with your well-loved tree this season.
