Thinking About the Beach?
Spending the week in sunny Florida during my family vacation last week now has me thinking about hitting our Southcoast beaches not far from now.
The very popular travel website Tripadvisor.com has included two beaches in Mass only a short drive from the Southcoast on their Top 25 beaches in the U.S. list, how exciting!
The Cape Cod National Seashore is one of them and if you've never been, it really is breathtaking. Located in Wellfleet, this beach goes for miles.
As one reviewer puts it, "Cape Cod National Seashore is a true treasure. We visited in the offseason, so no swimming or time in the water, but we did enjoy walking the shoreline, admiring the views, and seeing a whale. The visitors center provided interesting history of the park, and we stopped at a few of the beach points throughout the park. It's free and worth a stop."
The second local beach to make the list? Old Silver Beach in Falmouth on the Cape. This beach is about a 45 minute ride from New Bedford and totally worth the drive. If you've got kids, even better! It's almost always low tide which means plenty of sandbar for the kids to play on and swim. The water is warm too! It is very family friendly with a full snack/food bar, a shower, bath and changing rooms too.
Did I mention it's also a beautiful beach? The kids and I pack the car and go at least a few times each summer break and they LOVE it :) Me too of course!
