Earlier this week, I saw a friend's Facebook post about the local splashpad in Bourne at Buzzards Bay Park. By the look of the photo, my friend thought the town would be closing it. Seeing the giant bulldozer, I thought the same.

I called Bourne Town Hall and spoke with someone regarding the splashpad and whether or not it would be re-opening this summer. I told the woman I had seen a bulldozer over at the park this morning and she said that "they were doing some clean up over at the park and will know in a week or so if the splashpad would be re-opening this summer."

Well, today I spoke directly with Peter Meier who is the Chair on the Board of Selectmen for the town of Bourne regarding the splashpad.  He told me they hope to have the park and splashpad up and running for Memorial Day weekend. He confirmed that the splashpad would be re-opening this summer and will be open until 1:30 p.m. seven days a week. They are stopping use of the splashpad earlier than last summer in order to conserve water.

The town is also excited to announce they will have monitors who will be working at the park during the hours of operation. These monitors will be on hand for the safety of the children who will be playing at the park and splashpad.

*Update on 4/23/19 after original article: Bourne's Board of Selectmen Chair, Peter Meier requested I update the hours of operation for the parks Splashpad. He says, "The splashpad will be open weekends until the conclusion of Bourne Public Schools release date. After that, the town administrator is looking at hours of operation being 10 am -12:30 pm and then from 2 pm - 6:30 pm."
