It's hard to believe that there was once a time when we rejoiced over booze-to-go orders.

A friendly reminder: When the world was panicking back in the early days of the pandemic in 2020, sanity was somewhat restored in Massachusetts when restaurants statewide were granted permission to sell beer and wine (and eventually hard alcohol such as margaritas and mixed cocktails) to anyone buying takeout. It was an effort to help keep already struggling restaurants from drowning.

While reminiscing about the days of masks and the 6-foot rule (IYKYK), I remembered when restaurants, were allowed to sell you six-packs of beer or a bottle or two of wine with your chicken wings or buffalo mac and cheese. Not all participated, but for those that did I'm sure it was a nice little life jacket.

It's been almost three years since they got permission, but these businesses are still allowed to sell alcohol to go, believe it or not -- that is, until April 1, 2023. This gives customers more than two months to take advantage.
