There's a brand new restaurant in Taunton that fans of New Bedford's Airport Grill should know about.

If you enjoy eating amongst airplanes and watching aircraft land and take-off, you are probably missing the now defunct Airport Grill.  While New Bedford is no longer a place to sit and eat and watch the planes, you may be able to find what you are looking for after a short ride on 140 North.

The Taunton Municipal Airport is now home to a brand new restaurant called Aire.  What they have been able to do with this space is absolutely stunning.  As we first reported back in October, the new eatery is part of the new terminal at the Taunton airport, which broke ground in May 2021 and cost about $7.3 million, of which 95 percent was funded by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

The restaurant was scheduled to open in March, but there were the normal delays that can be expected with nearly every project.  Here is what the restaurant looked like seven months ago.  It has been transformed into a "beautiful modern space with industrial flair and warm welcoming colors," according to Aire Taunton's Facebook page.  "We created an ambiance that is charming, comfortable, and relaxing. We can’t wait to see the new art decor and outside patio space that will be coming soon!"

Aire Taunton is open for breakfast and lunch for the time being, with some seasonal dinners al fresco and some theme parties.

Breakfast plates range from the "Attaboy" which features two eggs any style, pancakes, scones & gravy, applewood bacon, & sausage to fruit samplers, waffles, omelets and strawberry crème brulee French toast.

Lunch features smash burgers, duck confit, salads, or chicken carbonara.

This does not appear to be your average breakfast and lunch spot.  Between the unique atmosphere and location coupled with the slightly off center menu, Aire Taunton is sure to turn some heads.
