TAUNTON (WBSM) — Eight people were displaced after a fire in Taunton on Wednesday.

According to Taunton Fire Chief Steven Lavigne, the fire was reported at 57 Somerset Street, a three-family house with eight occupants, at about 5:50 p.m. on June 5.

Engine 3 arrived to find the second floor on fire, which had extended into the attic. The fire was then extinguished with Engines 1, 5 and 9 as well as Ladder 2 and Car 2 also responding.

No injuries were reported.

Lavigne said two units sustained fire and water damage, and the third unit sustained water and smoke damage.

All eight occupants of the building were displaced and are being helped by the Taunton Emergency Management Agency and the American Red Cross.

Lavigne said the cause of the fire remains under investigation by both the Taunton Fire Department and Taunton Police.
