A brand-new spa treatment is making Potterheads turn and putting the "AHH" in Wingardium Leviosa. It's the Harry Potter Experience and it can only be found at Skin & Soul Holistic Wellness in Taunton.

"I was inspired by my lifelong love of the books and films and wanting to find a way to take the average seasonal treatment to the next level," owner Krystal Nickerson said. "Growing up, my siblings and I went to the midnight releases for every book. The movies would always come out around Thanksgiving and we would go as a family, so this time of year always feels nostalgic."

Let me take you back for a minute to 1997. I was in elementary school, the target demographic for the mystical chapter books that would soon hit shelves. Harry Potter took over, causing adults and children to be glued to the pages as they followed chapter after chapter, spellbound by the tales of Harry, Ron and Hermione.

Over time, the popularity grew, as did the fandom, bringing on movies, clothing, toys, theme parks and more. It's the power of the Potter name. Anything it touches is immediately appealing.

So when I noticed a local spa offering a Harry Potter facial, I just had to know more.

This treatment brings a wave of tingles, grounding, and total relaxation," Nickerson said. "Next, we dive into a fully customized facial addressing any concerns or goals you may have with your skin. This includes an extended facial and upper body massage dedicated to lifting, sculpting, and detoxifying. We finish the service with a butterbeer and a chocolate golden snitch to enjoy on your ride home in your post facial bliss."

The service makes for a blissful 120 minutes of magical relaxation all while your favorite Harry Potter film plays softly in the background.

Floating Candles, Hogwarts Decor, and Movie Screenings

"The room is decorated in the theme of Harry Potter with floating candles, a sorting hat, and little magical odds and ends that fans will recognize from the films (like a marauders map blanket)," Nickerson said.

"Guests will climb into a cozy, heated bed and get to choose which movie they’d like to have projected for the duration of their service," she said. Not a fan of Harry Potter, but you love a great spa treatment? No problem. Clients are welcome to pick any holiday movie.
