Swansea Teacher Offers Creative Classroom Setting for Students

Mrs. Megan Silva is a first-grade teacher at Gardner Elementary School in Swansea. She was nominated by Kelly Baldwin, a parent whose child engages in learning from inside and outside of the classroom each and every day.

“This teacher, despite all the challenges of the school year, makes the children feel safe and look forward to going to school each and every day. She truly makes learning fun! She holds classes outside when possible and has a 'flexible seating' arrangement in her class. Students can select where they would like to sit, whether it’s a yoga mat, couch, chair, or wiggle seat. You name it, she has it! She continues to amaze me with her creativity and encouraging spirit! I would love to see her win as she's so deserving!”
