The Weirdest Moments Have Happened to These SouthCoast People
What’s the weirdest thing that has ever happened to you?
I’ll go first.
It was New Year's Eve 2017. My husband, Ross, was my new boyfriend at the time, and we were spending our first New Year’s together on Main Street in East Greenwich. It was below freezing that night, and after the ball dropped, we rushed to his car to head home.
As we were just about to pull away, the door to the back seat flung open, and a strange man hopped in.
Ross and I froze. This man was in his young 20s, wearing only a T-shirt and jeans, and was shivering uncontrollably.
“Please help, I’m so cold,” he said.
I could see Ross trying to decide what he would do next. This man fights people for a living, so this could have gone several different ways.
“What is going on, where are you coming from, and are the cops looking for you?” Ross said.
The response: “I got kicked out of McKinley’s and they wouldn’t let me grab my jacket. Please, can you bring me home?”

McKinley’s was a pub about 1.5 miles from where we were. While a “liquid coat” most likely kept the man a little warm, it was still below freezing and he was clearly in distress.
He said he lived about five minutes up the road and all he wanted was a ride.
Ross and I were flabbergasted, but we both agreed the right thing to do was to take him home.
All these years later, we still can’t believe that guy jumped into a random car.
But, I guess when you’re that cold, you’ll do anything to survive.
We decided to ask about your weirdest moments and youdid not disappoint.
