From Dirt to Dinner: SouthCoast Mom Makes Mystery Recipe
As many do this time of year, I've been spending lots of time in the yard. On a sunny day, you can find our family playing, planting and cleaning up for the season.
Just the other day, my husband stumbled upon something interesting: a recipe.

I have no idea how long the recipe was buried, nor do I know where it came from. It may have blown over from a neighbor's house or came with our wood delivery in the fall. Nevertheless, I was intrigued.
Covered in dirt, but still legible, I decided to make the mysterious hand-written recipe.
The Ingredients
- Rice
- Sausage
- Onion
- 2 Tomatoes, chopped
- Ginger/Garlic
- 2t Chili
- 1t Turmeric
- 1T Coriander
- 2t Garam Masala
- 2C Stock

Directions
Sear sausage, then onions. Add garlic/ginger, then tomatoes, then seasoning, then sausage. Add rice and mix, then add stock and simmer 15 minutes.

If you're making this recipe and think to yourself 'how much rice?' 'are we slicing the sausage first?' or 'how much ginger?', you're not alone. To those questions I say, I have no idea, I found this in the yard.
That being said, I'm now calling this "The Yard Dish" (though I think I actually make sausage curry) and let me tell you, it's delicious!

Not only was I pleasantly surprised that it came out so tasty, I think it's even better the next day.
