We've had a turbulent Sunday morning here at the Rock house. Someone hacked my son's Fortnite account last night.

My son woke us up out of a glorious Sunday morning sleep-in.  His Fornite account had been hacked, and he had "lost everything".   He's been playing Fortnite since it first hit the scene more than a year ago, buying skins, coins, weapons...things I don't really understand.  What I do understand is that these virtual toys cost REAL money.  I don't even want to know how much real money has been spent on this game since he's started.

He had something called the Purple Skull Trooper (I don't know, don't ask).  Apparently, this Purple Skull Trooper is the equivalent of having a Porsche Cayenne parked in the driveway.  Last night, someone took the Cayenne out for a joyride - and stole it (and everything else) in his account.

It remains unclear, but it appears as if the only thing the hackers stole were his Fortnite game items.  It doesn't look like any "real life" credit card info, etc. was stolen, but I'll have to keep an eye on my accounts.

Microsoft emailed me this morning letting me know that there was suspicious activity last night.  I logged onto Microsoft directly (I did not click on the link in the email) and it was true.  I changed my Microsoft password, and now we wait.

Is there anything else I can do other than keep an eye on my accounts?  Is this a common occurrence that people hack into Xbox accounts and steal virtual weapons and coins?

I HATE everything about the Fortnite craze.
