Simpsons Co-Creator Giving Away Fortune After Cancer Diagnosis
Terminally ill Simpsons co-creator Sam Simon, was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer back in 2012, and was told he only had three to six months to live.
Simon has been in the news lately after he made it publicly known that he plans to give back his fortune to the charities that mean the most to him. The Simpsons franchise has been the best animated series on television for close to 25 years, leaving Simon with over 100 million dollars to donate.
In a recent interview, the Emmy award winning co-creator explains where he expects the money to go to and I was thrilled with his choice. Sam Simon has been very progressive with his involvement with the protection of animals and has expressed in a recent interview that this is where most of the proceeds will be going. He has very close ties to PETA and already has the Sam Simon Foundation which helps feed families in need as well as providing service dogs to veterans. With a donation as large as Simon's, it will be interesting to see how much of an impact will be made on our furry little friends.
