
Injured New Bedford Officer Will Be Released From Rhode Island Hospital
Gunshots rang out late last night near St. Kilian's Church on Ashley Boulevard New Bedford. A police officer was shot 3 times. According to the Standard Times, one witness at the St. Luke's Hospital ER saw a New Bedford police officer brought in wearing a bullet proof vest. The man said that when the vest was removed, the officer was bleeding heavily from a gunshot wound to his ribcage. The police officer was shot 3 times.

According to WBSM News, Mayor Jon Mitchell says the narcotics detective wounded in a Friday night drug raid should be released from Rhode Island Hospital later Saturday.
