Remembering My Best Interview Ever With 21 Pilots
It happens to be Throwback Thursday and my phone was kind enough to send me a photo that reminded me of my all-time favorite interview.
Six years ago, I was sitting down with 21 Pilots before their show at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence and the results were pure fun.
Typically I am not a fan of interviews. They always make me nervous, I usually feel like I'm asking dumb questions and, more often than not, the artist being interviewed doesn't even seem like they want to be talking to anyone.
Yet on this particular occasion in 2017, my talk with 21 Pilots went pretty well.
The guys were so nice. They had literally been sitting for almost an hour doing interview after interview and I was far from their first one. But they never made me feel that way.
They also were riding high in their career at the time. They had just come off a huge year of hits with "Stressed Out," "Ride" and "Heathens" all becoming Top 5 records throughout 2016.
Plus, they were on the second leg of their longest tour to date, so they had likely done thousands of interviews by this time. Yet they had nothing but laid-back attitudes and an openness to honestly answer any silly question I had.
This for sure helped me to relax and actually enjoy an interview for the first time in a long time. The end result was what I think might be my best interview ever and certainly my favorite.
Feel free to walk down memory lane with me...
