Roger Williams Park Zoo may have just kicked off its Jack O'Lantern Spectacular, but that isn't stopping the zoo from thinking Christmas. It was recently announced that for the 2021 holiday season, there will be a Holiday Lights Spectacular throughout the zoo.

Last Christmas, the zoo's walkways were decorated with massive lights and welcomed visitors to drive through the zoo after dark to check them out. This Christmas, they are upping the game and turning the drive-through experience into a walk-through event.

That means more lights on festive larger-than-life displays that feature over 1.5 million holiday lights – quite the way to celebrate the Christmas season. Personally, I always love a good excuse to head to the zoo at night, and this is definitely a good excuse.

Similar to the Jack O'Lantern Spectacular, the new Holidays Lights Spectacular will transform zoo into another world. Instead of pumpkins everywhere you look, it'll be holiday decorations of all kinds with holiday music pumped through as well. But unlike the JOLS, the Holiday Lights Spectacular takes over the entire zoo. All of the animal exhibits will be lit up with something and it sounds amazing.

Also similar to the JOLS, tickets for the Holiday Lights Spectacular will be sold exclusively online and booked in half hour time slots for entry (not that you have to power through all the lights in a half hour).

For now, Roger Williams Park Zoo is covered in pumpkins until early November. It will then take a few weeks to reset and redecorate before opening the Holidays Lights Spectacular to guests from November 26 until January 2, 2022. Plenty of time to get in the holiday spirit at the zoo this season.
