Nothing says spooky season like an intricately-carved pumpkin with a funny face and a candle illuminating it from the inside out. So how spooky would it get if there were not one, but thousands of these pumpkins, all in a row for our special viewing pleasure? We're about to find out!

Thousands of beautifully-lit jack-o'lanterns are descending upon Providence this fall, and you're not going to want to miss this spooky spectacle.

Roger Williams Park Zoo's Jack-O'-Lantern Spectacular is coming back for another year, and the event is truly taking pumpkin carving at the kitchen table to the next level. Upon arrival into the Providence-based zoo, guests will experience a variety of interactive displays along the main pathways, leading to the main event, a trail of thousands of carved and lit jack-o'-lanterns, along the wetlands trail.

Throughout the zoo, guests will also be treated to a variety of music spanning the past 150 years, including tunes from Janis Joplin to Jay-Z.

The Jack-O'-Lantern Spectacular kicks off September 30, and runs nightly through October 31 from 6 to 10:30 p.m., rain or shine. Tickets cost $21 for adults and $18 for kids 2 to 12 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and $17 for adults and $14 for kids Monday through Thursday. Zoo members are also eligible for ticket discounts for this special fall event. All tickets must be purchased in advance and online through the zoo's website.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to soar like an eagle across the night sky? Jack-O'-Lantern Spectacular guests will also have the opportunity to find out for themselves, weather-permitting, as they glide 115 feet above the ground on the Soaring Eagle Zip Ride. The ride will be located just after the pumpkin trail and will cost an additional $15 per rider, with a discount for zoo members.

Plus, the zoo will also offer a set of sensory-friendly nights on October 26 and 27 from 5 to 6 p.m., to give all zoo-goers the chance to experience the pumpkins in all their glory. More than five thousand glowing Jack-O'-Lanterns will still be lit for the sensory-friendly events, but there will not be music or special effects during these hours.
