After the tremendous impact and economic boost from the Tartan Army, GoProvidence and the Rhode Island Sports Commission are saying "thank you" with a generous donation.

A $5,000 donation has been made to the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, something GoProvidence and the RI Sports Commission called "a gesture of gratitude and friendship following the unforgettable impact Scottish soccer fans left on Providence during their stay in the region."

A International Gesture of Gratitude and Friendship

“This is our small way of giving back to a group that gave so much to us,” President and CEO of GoProvidence Kristen Adamo said. “The Tartan Army reignited Rhode Islanders’ love for Providence. They brought joy, a sense of community, and a whole lot of bagpipes everywhere they went. We miss them terribly and we hope this gesture shows just how grateful we are.”

The generosity didn't stop there as local restaurants also wanted to show their appreciation. Hot Club, G Pub, Track 15, Trinity Brewhouse, Murphy’s and Rollers decided to step up and raise an additional $5,500.

“Sports have a unique ability to build bridges, and the connection between Providence and the Tartan Army is proof of that,” Executive Director of the Rhode Island Sports Commission Jonathan Walker said. “Their energy transformed our city. Supporting the Glasgow Children’s Hospital is the least we can do to honor the friendship they extended to us.”
