A millennial mother is going viral for sharing what her daughter believes are “old people names,” and some of them may shock you.

TikTok user ‘Ciao Amber C’ shared from the comfort of her car her daughter’s opinion on how names like Ashley, Amanda and Amber are old people names now.

“She’s like, ‘Yeah, my teacher’s names are like Miss Erica, Miss Samantha, there’s Amandas and Ashleys and she’s like, ‘Those are just old people names.’"

As for what the woman's daughter considers young people names, she'll start with her own, Scarlett.

"There’s Charlotte, there’s Olivia, there’s Penelopes…those are young people names,” said Amber C.

She goes on to say that, in the eyes of Gen Z, names such as Ashley and Amanda are the new Margaret and Barbara.

This one hurts. Call me naive, but I wasn’t prepared to have the names from my generation be considered “old.”

The Amandas and Ashleys of my generation were the cool kids. Now they are outdated? I can’t keep up.

In all reality, what goes around comes around. Names such as Charlotte and Sophia were considered old when I was a kid, and now they are “trendy.”

Just like fashion trends, name trends are a revolving door.

With 3.6 million views and counting, Amber C. definitely got the internet talking and got us millennials shaking in our boots.

So, if you are expecting a little one this year, remember hat trends change quicker than the seasons. Go with a name you love.

It may be trendy now or trendy in a few years, so go with what makes you happy.
