It's one of the biggest public parks in Rhode Island and it just might have the most history inside it's 197 acres.

Way back in 1894, the city of Pawtucket acquired the former Daggett Farm and created the city's first public park named after the "Father of the American Industrial Revolution", Samuel Slater.

Less than two miles from it's namesake's famed Old Slater Mill, the park is a perfect family destination for a fun filled day in any season.

Oldest Building in Pawtucket

Though the park's 131 years is impressive, the house inside the park is older than America itself.

Built in 1685 by John Daggett Jr., the house remained in the Daggett family until it and the farmland around it was bought by the city of Pawtucket.

It was restored by the Daughter of the American Revolution (DAR) starting in 1902 and opened as a museum in 1905. Today you have to book tours in advance by calling the city park or DAR directly.
