OK For Trash Men In Portugal To Be Trashed

A court in Lisbon, Portugal has ordered the re-hiring of a sanitation worker who was involved in an on-the-job DUI accident.  The Three-judge appeals panel said the 'Unpleasant" nature of the profession justifies trash collectors drinking on the job.

the garbage man in question was not only ordered reinstated, but given 16 months of pay he lost after getting fired.  The judges agreed that there were no rules on the books about trash collectors drinking on the job, so the man didn't break any laws.   One judge said that tipsy trash men appear happier to the public they serve.   The court however did rule that the driver of the garbage truck should not be drinking on the job.
