31 Old Beach Road in Newport, also known as “Woodbine Cottage” is 5,363 square feet of historically beautiful property, equipped with its own watchtower.

George Champlin Mason Sr., a famous Newport architect, built the home in 1873 as his personal residence, “a stunning and rare example of Swiss Chalet architecture in New England,” Buildings of New England said.

It’s the perfect combination of history and contemporary flair. Many of the rooms have original fixtures, such as the original bookcase in the library, while some rooms offer a modern upgrade, such as the chef’s kitchen with top-notch amenities.

Eight bedrooms, 12.5 bathrooms and landscaped gardens make up this charming home, but the most epic part of the home is actually outside.

A 30-foot “treehouse,” complete with three levels, a storage room, a workshop and an astronomy pad can be found in the backyard. With the watchtower overlooking the labyrinth garden in the backyard, it’s like something out of a storybook.
