After three years of fundraising and planning, the new splash pad at the Stoico/FirstFed YMCA in Swansea is finally ready to open.

The roughly $600,000 project is completed and Swansea YMCA welcomes families to enjoy some summer fun starting July 1.

“We strongly believe this splash pad will garner community support and engagement,” said the Swansea Y. “It will be a great way for people of all ages to stay active during hot summer days and learn about all the other programming the Y has to offer.”

Back in April, Stephanie Mancini and Ray Prevost of YMCA SouthCoast joined Townsquare Sunday to discuss the process of getting the project up and running.

At the time, the Y had raised more than $400,000 and aimed for a June 1 unveiling, but it appears a few more weeks were needed. Engraved bricks were being sold for $150 that featured the donor’s name, which proved a successful way to raise funds. On July 1, the splash pad will turn on and provide a cool time for a hot summer.

On July 1, Stoico/Firstfed YMCA will unveil the addition to its community. A two-month membership special with be available for the Swansea branch only, but you do not have to be a YMCA member to enjoy the splash pad. The facility will be open for day passes to the community for $10 per participant, as capacity allows.

From the looks of it, this splash pad has all the bells and whistles. From slides and fountains to a giant bucket waiting to dump gallons of water on excited people below, this new splash pad in Swansea will be the perfect location for some summer fun.
