Dartmouth Woman Gives Businesses Joyful Curb Appeal Through Eye-Catching Art
All forms of art bring joy to the world and a Dartmouth woman has been adding art to the SouthCoast landscape for decades.
If you come across a business that has colorful and eye-catching window paintings out front, there’s a good chance that it was by Tuesday M. Desrochers, the creator of Murals by Tuesday.
“I have been into art since I was a child,” she said. “I always wanted to be an artist growing up. I used to write on walls as a kid and I would get in trouble for it.”
She may have gotten in trouble as a child, but she trusted her passion for art as she got older and made a business out of it.
“I was living in Florida in the early '90s and it’s really popular there to have (business) windows done up, especially for the holidays,” she said. “When I came back to the SouthCoast for vacation, I noticed no one was doing it, and I saw a market for it.”
Murals by Tuesday became Desrochers' calling card, and now, clients seek out her artistic touch when they are looking for some unique curb appeal.
“I just love interacting with people,” Desrochers said about sharing her art with the community. “Everyone is always so happy when they see it being made.”
With decades of experience under her belt, Desrochers has traveled all over the SouthCoast and beyond to transform storefronts with her murals. She has even gone to Africa twice.
“There’s a school there and I get to go there and design the classrooms and paint on the buildings,” she said.
Sharing her art with the world has brought Desrochers so much joy, and that joy has become contagious for local businesses and the patrons visiting.
“Most of the work I do is bright, colorful, and uplifting. ... It makes people happy, and I like to spread happiness,” she said. “It’s like therapy for me.”
