Step Aside, Salem, This Massachusetts Town Is an Exciting Halloween Destination
Many label Salem as the holy grail of Halloween-themed spots in Massachusetts. While Salem is a great town for some spooky vibes, being famous for its witch trials in 1692, many similar places in Massachusetts aren’t as popular.
Chatham is a Massachusetts town that you should want to visit this Halloween and here's why:
According to Trips To Discover, Chatham is among the 18 best small towns to visit on the holiday. The seaside town is nestled on the southeastern tip of Cape Cod and each year, it holds an annual Pumpkin People in the Park event at Kate Gould Park in October.
This event consists of artists and local businesses coming together to display unique and creative pumpkin creations -- not just carvings but intricate designs that use costumes and props that bring to life pumpkin caricatures.
Think of it as a jack-o'-lantern extravaganza, but with more people made out of pumpkins. The event begins on Friday, Oct. 14, and will continue until Halloween night on Main Street at the park.
Chatham also holds its own Oktoberfest at the Park, which includes face painting, games, food vendors and more. Live music is also provided.
Finally, if you're looking to channel your inner witch, then join the Witch Walk happening on Oct. 29. There is a lot to do in the seaside town, especially around Halloween.
So, the next time you want to try something different other than making the trek to Salem and avoiding those shoulder-to-shoulder crowds, consider a road trip to Cape Cod.
