Freetown TikTok Star Mikayla Nogueira Laughs While Getting ‘Red-Lipped’ by Gwen Stefani

Mikayla Nogueira's life has changed an awful lot in the past several years. Just before the pandemic, in addition to posting makeup tips on YouTube and Tumblr, Mikayla was writing articles for our sister station WBSM.

The articles were more hard-hitting than what she was used to doing. She wrote an opinion piece about drag queens reading to children at New Bedford Public Library.  She also wrote a piece for Fun 107 about a walking tour of the buildings Henry Huttleston Rogers built on the SouthCoast. All of this work was done during her internship here at the radio stations.

Then, the pandemic hit, and so did the meteoric rise of TikTok in the social media scene. It was a game changer for so many, but it really changed Mikayla Noqueira's life.

She went from an Apponequet grad trying to make things happen at her East Freetown home to a nationally known make-up influencer seemingly overnight.

Part of that incredible ascension has been the opportunity to meet some pretty big names. One of them is music legend Gwen Stefani.

Gwen and Mikayla met up to promote the singer's line of lipsticks.

"I hate red lipstick, but Gwen Stefani thinks I can rock a red lip," Mikayla quipped in a video. "She's going to tell me which red lip she thinks looks best on me."

Gwen broke out her Original Recipe. She called it her "everyday, signature lipstick" and applied some to the back of her hand.

"I'm changing your mind," she told Mikayla. "This pairs perfectly with scarlet red."

Gwen then made Mikayla gush when she said, "You have super-cute lips, by the way."
