The parents of Martin Richard, the 8 year-old who was killed in the Boston Marathon bombings, has a letter in this morning's Boston Globe asking that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev doesn't get the death penalty.

According to the Boston Globe, the Richard family asked that “the case come to a close, writing, ‘We know that the government has its reasons for seeking the death penalty, but the continued pursuit of that punishment could bring years of appeals and prolong the reliving the most painful day of our lives.”

The Richard family says that as long as Tsarnaev is in the headlines, they cannot find peace.  They fear that sentencing him to death will cause years of appeals.  Their desire is to have the killer fade from the headlines, and they believe the quickest way to make that happen is to sentence him to life in prison.  The family makes it clear that they don't speak for all victims.

You can read the full Richard family plea here. For additional Boston Marathon coverage you can visit the Boston Athletic Association and catch live coverage of the 119th running on Monday, April 20 beginning at 9 a.m. on WBZ-TV.
