I'm still in shock. I can't believe I got an RSVP from Market Basket.

This story begins with two people who love each other very much. Eventually, they decided to get married in October and exchange vows in front of the people they love. Of course, I'm talking about my fiancée and myself, but for those who have been living under a rock- we're getting married.

We've been having fun lately with reaching out to different businesses, both large and small, and asking if they would like to come to our wedding. One of those businesses is our friendly neighborhood grocery store: Market Basket.

First off, I can not take credit for this story, as my fiancée did all the work. I'm just here for the humble bragging rights. She had seen a TikTok about a couple who ended up getting a bunch of gifts from companies such as Trader Joe's and IKEA. Just a couple of examples, but it was enough to get the juices flowing and reach out to some of our favorite companies.

We emailed conglomerates and local businesses and ended up striking gold with Market Basket. Now, don't get me wrong, we both love Market Basket and shop religiously every week or so. It's a bonding adventure for us since shopping at the Coggeshall Street Market Basket is an all-out mission to get in and get out.

After reaching out via email to a customer service rep for the company (most likely out of Tewksbury, MA), we received a handwritten letter in the mail within a few days.

Excited and dumbfounded, we frantically opened the envelope to reveal one of the kindest gifts we could have received. A well-written letter wishing us both the best on our upcoming special day was attached to a gift card for $50 to the store. Now, if you've never shopped at Market Basket before, regardless of how expensive groceries are anywhere in the country, $50 goes a long way.

The note reads:

Congratulations
To the happy couple,
May the love and happiness you feel today shine through the years and your love forever grow. We wish you all the best as you begin your new life together!
From all of your friends at
Market Basket
"More for your dollar."

What a kind gesture from a prestigious company. Local or not, I'm sure they get inquiries all the time and they still went out of their way to send some love to us. These are the things that separate the business from the people behind the scenes and as far as I'm concerned- my respect for Market Basket just skyrocketed.

That being said, we both would like to take this time to thank whoever it was that sent us such a generous and thoughtful gift. The note alone was touching and heartfelt, and the gift card was the cherry on top. As saddened as we are that you won't be in attendance, rest assured that you just gained a customer for life.
