It's not often that you get a Facebook message from a multi-billionaire, much less a personal email, but how about a personal invite?

It's been quite the week for former Fall River City Councilor Pam Laliberte, a realtor with Re/Max Team ROSO.

There's a new angle that may have helped explain one of the strangest videos we've seen from Fall River in a while.

The Bizarre Video

The story started Friday, when Laliberte was awakened in the wee hours of the morning by the sound of her Ring doorbell. She fumbled with her phone to see who could be on her front porch at 2:20 a.m. on a weekday.

The person on the other side of the video appeared to be confused. He was dressed in business-casual clothing with a neatly pressed shirt and pants, but was also wearing white gym socks with slides.

"Sorry, I got hypnotized," he said, followed by an awkward three-second pause. "Mark Cuban? He hypnotized me. And I just wanted to say I'm sorry. He literally hypnotized me. And, uh, yeah, Mark Cuban got me good."

He continued: "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry to disturb you."

He then left the front porch and walked across the street.

If this was some kind of prank, here was the most polite prankster in the history of pranks.

Needless to say, this video has been the buzz of Fall River all week, but it didn't stop there.

The Marc Cuban Effect

Mark Cuban was tagged in the X post by

SouthCoast media personality Jessica Machado tagged businessman Mark Cuban in a widely circulated share of the video on X.

Incredibly, he responded.

"I told him I wanted the TPR reports on my desk in the morning....no idea what is going on here," he wrote in his own share of the video.

Suddenly, the video had more than a million hits.

But that wasn't all. The $6 billion NBA owner also answered a personal email Laliberte sent to him.

"It's really me," he assured Laliberte. "And if you come to dallas I can get you tickets. :)"

He added: "Hope the kid got help."

After it was all said and done, there are more questions than answers about the supposedly hypnotized mystery man. Here are just a few:

1. Why was he playing Halo music during the walk-up to the doorbell? It was as if he was trying to psych himself up for the game.
2. If you watch closely, he rehearses what he's about to say before ringing the bell.
3. Where did he go after he left the front porch? Was it on to the next house?

Here's the most intriguing question of all:

4. Is it possible that the gentleman in the video mistakenly blamed Mark Cuban? Mark Patrick, a hypnotist who tours the country helping people to quit smoking, was in Maine last week, then New Hampshire, and then Springfield, Massachusetts. Is it possible that this young man was hypnotized by Mark Patrick and confused him for the Shark Tank entrepreneur?

Dallas-Bound?

Whatever the explanation, it will be an encounter that Laliberte won't soon forget, and neither will we.

Laliberte said she is considering taking Cuban up on his offer.

"I should have asked him some meaningful business question," she said. "My son had the idea to ask him for tickets."
