Fall River Residents Arrested in Berkley After Vehicle Chase
BERKLEY (WBSM) — Three Fall River residents were arrested Thursday in Berkley after a chase and charged with motor vehicle theft and other charges.
Massachusetts State Police said that shortly before 3 p.m. on April 17, troopers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle that had been part of a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) notification earlier that day.
State Police said the vehicle fled the initial stop but was later seen merging onto Route 79 northbound.
Troopers followed the vehicle until it exited the highway and went onto local roadways.
A Massachusetts State Police Air Wing crew then provided air support and was able to locate and track the vehicle on Route 24 northbound in the area of Exit 11. The vehicle exited the highway in Berkley, where Berkley Police were able to block the exits and trap the vehicle.
State Police said the three suspects bailed out of the vehicle and were apprehended within a few minutes.
Alexia Springer, 21, and Lijah Fortes, 27, both of Fall River, were arrested and charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle.
The driver, Kobe West, 19, of Fall River was arrested and charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, marked lanes violation, speeding, and was also arrested on five outstanding warrants.
