Lakeville Police Say Clown Tweet Was Hoax

Lakeville Police say a recent posting about clowns turned out to be a hoax.

A Twitter user, identifed as Clown Clan, posted a tweet on Tuesday saying, "Clowns everywhere! We are going for Massachusetts ; ) ever heard of the small towns Freetown and lakeville? Time to visit!."

Police say a brief investigation was conducted after they received numerous calls and messages about tweets and posts on social media about the clown phenomenon.

The School Resource officer has then advised that the post was created by a juvenile.

Police say the incident is being dealt with by school officials.
