Listen to Jordin Sparks’ Song ‘Skipping a Beat’

We knew we were going to hear a new Jordin Sparks song today (Aug. 1) -- we just didn't expect this one!

Instead of 'Before It Breaks,' the collaboration with Jason Derulo she teased 10 days ago, Jordin posted new tune 'Skipping a Beat' on SoundCloud. The ode to love captures a throwback sunny vibe that's presented in a completely contemporary arrangement, layered vocals and all.

Derulo might not appear on the mid-groove track, but its lyrics certainly seem to be about Jordin's performer boyfriend: "You're my lover, you're my friend, you're my gangsta," Sparks croons in one refrain.

It's unclear if the song will replace the Derulo collabo or being released in conjunction with it, but one thing we do know is that it will only take a couple of listens to get you singing along.
