Halloween Etiquette: How To Deal With The Self Serve Candy Bowl

Okay, I'll be the first to admit, I was the kid that took the whole bowl of candy when people weren't home and left it on the door step with a note "take one". That doesn't make me a bad person, that just really means I really like candy. Not really sure why people practice this on Halloween, if your not home, your just not home. You are not required to leave candy on your door step if you cant be home for trick or treaters. What do you think?

Should you leave candy out, knowing full well that some little punk kid might just take all of it or just not care and see what happens.
