Getting Stung by a Portuguese Man o’ War Isn’t Pretty
Selena Gomez's 2020 is off to an interesting start. Instead of ushering the new decade with cocktails on a Hawaiian beach, Selena got into a painful situation with a jellyfish instead.
She was carried from the Honolulu shores by a complete stranger after reportedly stepping on a Portuguese Man o' War jellyfish on New Year's Day. For the record, that particular breed of jellyfish has quite the reputation for its painful sting.
Selena was limping away with some help from her friends after her jellyfish encounter. A concerned passerby scooped her up and gave her a piggyback ride to carry her to find help.
Despite all this, she was all smiles as she passed fans on the beach. However, when posting about her beach adventures to Instagram, she noticeably left out her painful encounter. If you look close enough you can tell her leg looks a little red and swollen.

Hi everyone. Like you, I want to support the fight against the bushfires here in Australia. My family and I are contributing a million dollars. Hopefully you guys can chip in too. Every penny counts so whatever you can muster up is greatly appreciated. In my bio I’ve added links to support the fire fighters, organisations and charities who are working flat out to provide support and relief during this devastating and challenging time. Beyond appreciative to everyone around the world for their well wishes and donations. It really does make a difference, so dig deep! Love ya. A post shared by Chris Hemsworth (@chrishemsworth) on
Those wanting to make a donation can do so by clicking the link on Hemsworth's Instagram bio or by visiting ink.bio/fightthebushfires. Sadly, the Australian wildfires have currently consumed over 12 million acres of land as of Monday, killing at least 24 people and destroying over 2,000 homes. It's estimated that nearly half a billion animals have died so far.
Comedian and actress Kate McKinnon will be on Ellen today. She presented Ellen with the new Carol Burnett Award Sunday night at the Golden Globes.
