
Amy Poehler Makes History at Golden Globes While Shouting Out New England Patriots
While crowds gathered at Gillette Stadium for Wild Card Weekend, celebrities gathered at the Beverly Hilton for the 83rd Golden Globe Awards.
Among the nominees was Massachusetts' own Amy Poehler. She received a nomination for Best Podcast for Good Hang with Amy Poehler.
The Newton native took home the big honor, even mentioning the New England Patriots in her acceptance speech.

Shortly after thanking her podcasting crew, friends and loved ones, she closed out her acceptance speech saying, "Mom and dad, you can watch the Patriots now."
The New England Patriots were in the middle of the first round of playoffs, hosting the Los Angeles Chargers.

Making History
Poehler's win marks a significant milestone in Golden Globes history. In late 2025, the the Golden Globes announced a brand new category to their awards show: Best Podcast.

Snoop Dogg presented Poehler with the inaugural award, cementing her in the history books.
"I know I am new to this game. I have great respect this form. I have great respect for all the people I am nominated with. I am big fans of all of you – except for NPR," Poehler said sarcastically.
Best Podcast Nominees
She took top prize, beating the competition that included her ex, Will Arnett. He and co-hosts Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes were nominated for their podcast SmartLess.
