Foxboro School Committee Dedicates Field To Sam Berns
Sam Berns will always be remembered at Foxboro High School. According to NESN, the Foxboro School Committee voted to name the town's new turf field after Sam Burns, a 17-year old Junior at Foxboro High School who passed away after battling the rare disease Progoria.
If you remember, Sam has been shown on many media outlets such as TED Talks, the subject of the HBO documentary "Life According to Sam," and being the Bruins guest of honor at Progoria Awareness Night in November 2013, dropping the first puck. Berns was also supposed to be the New England Patriots honorary captain in their divisonal round game but passed away before he could do so.
Sam Berns will live on forever in the city of Foxboro. The field is planning to open this fall at Foxboro High School.
