Fall River Animal Shelter to Host Drag Bingo at White’s of Westport
Do you love dogs?
Do you like winning prizes?
Do you enjoy the flamboyant and fun shenanigans that accompany any type of drag queen event?
Then this upcoming event for Forever Paws Animal Shelter in Fall River is right up your alley.
Forever Paws is excited to host Drag Bingo at White's of Westport on May 21 to raise money for their nonprofit organization.
Board President Gail Furtado has been with Forever Paws for 25 years, volunteering her time and effort to the organization.
In the past, Furtado and the committee have hosted “spring flings” accompanied by tarot card readings and other fun activities, but this year, they wanted to do something a little different.
“We’ve never done anything like this before,” said Furtado.
Fundraising for Forever Paws is important now more than ever.
“With the last few years, we didn’t have a lot of fundraising opportunities, and 30-35% of our budget comes from fundraising.”
As a nonprofit, money can get tight pretty quickly. Forever Paws is proud to offer healthy animals, but it comes at a price.
“A lot of people say that adopting can get expensive, but we offer animals that are spayed, neutered and microchipped. ... Sometimes we only make 20 dollars on an adoption,” Furtado said.
So, the goal was to build a fun event that would encourage the community to come out and support Forever Paws, and Drag Bingo was born.
Gingah Rale, Patty Cakes and The Lady Sabrina will be your divas for the evening as they host bingo games, call out raffles, and provide fun entertainment.
Leave your kids at home for this one.
All money raised will go toward the operation of the nonprofit organization, and the Forever Paws team is excited to hit the ground running for 2022.
