Many SouthCoast museums and zoos are going to be free this August thanks to the Highland Street Foundation.

This non-profit has been working throughout Massachusetts for decades helping children and families have access and opportunities in education, housing, mentorship, health care, environment, and the arts.

Each August they really focus on the arts and kick of their annual August Adventures, where a different Massachusetts zoo or museum will be free to enjoy for local families every single day.

Here's what you can explore for free on the SouthCoast.

Tuesday August 1 - Children's Museum of Greater Fall River

Wednesday August 2 - New Bedford Whaling Museum

Saturday August 5 - Falmouth Museums on the Green

Sunday August 6 - Battleship Cove

Monday August 14 - The Children's Museum of Easton

Wednesday August 23 - Atlantic White Shark Conservancy Chatham

Thursday August 24 - Buttonwood Park Zoo

Friday August 25 - Cape Cod Art Museum

Thursday August 31 - Patriots Hall of Fame

There are plenty of other Massachusetts spots worth checking out on the Highland Street Foundation's August Adventures calendar, but some will mean making a serious road trip to explore them.

Still with free adventures up for grabs all August long, making the trek might totally be worth it.

Our local SouthCoast spots are certainly worth the free fun. Especially with the new attractions inside the Children's Museum of Greater Fall River and the new red pandas that just arrived at Buttonwood Park Zoo.

You can see all the August Adventures here, then plan your free family fun accordingly all month long.
