The stores on William Street New Bedford and Plymouth Ave Fall River have been selling Nike products for nearly 30 years, but Carter's was told earlier this year that their Nike account would be terminated.   So, with Carter's doing about 30 percent of their annual business from Nike, they've decided to fight back.

The family owned business has filed a lawsuit against Nike to restore their contract, and it's now gone to federal court in Boston.   Their attorney says it's a tough battle because of Nike's in-house legal team that seems determined to weed-out doing business with the smaller dealers across the country.

Even tough the Nike product stopped coming in  at the end of June, the store may have enough stock to last 'til Christmas.   The Carter family said the letter informing them of the decision came as a complete surprise.   They say losing the Nike line will hurt them, but they will definitely stay in business.
