Boston Mayor Holds Press Conference To Tell Residents Not To Jump Out Windows
You'd think not jumping out of a window would be common sense, but with about five feet of snow covering the ground it has apparently gotten way to tempting.Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh actually held a press conference yesterday to address the large number of people jumping out of windows into feet of snow below. Seems a new trend on social media for many Boston-area residents is to capture video of themselves jumping out of their windows (many in their underwear for whatever reason) and post it with the hastag #BostonBlizzardChallenge.
It sounds crazy to me, but a LOT of people are doing this, to the point that Mayor Walsh had to publicly address it. In his press conference the Mayor urged "people to act responsibly in the city of Boston." Adding,
This isn’t Loon Mountain, this is the city of Boston, where we’re trying to remove snow off of the street and it becomes very dangerous."
Luckily no one has had to receive any serious medical care from taking a plunge out their window into waiting snow, but the videos keep piling up and the chances are going up as well.
I guess I can understand the desire, I mean there are gigantic piles of snow everywhere...but the thought of jumping out a window into one certainly never crossed my mind (especially not in my underwear!)
Still February has set records in Boston for the city's snowiest month all-time and we're only halfway through. So do you think Mayor Walsh's press conference will stop the videos? Or are you now tempted to make one too!
