Best Southcoast Beaches For A Winter Walk

It's the dead of winter and I would kill for a beach day.  Why can't you have a beach day in the winter?  We've carved out the best beaches on the Southcoast for a breath of fresh winter air...

Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven is not only a great spot in the heat of summer but a great place to get a breath of fresh air in the middle of winter. There’s a lot of history to be found there and the views of not only the water off of Fairhaven but also New Bedford’s historic harbor.

Round Hill in Dartmouth is a favorite for this! This is a great family beach in the summer months and also a place to clear your mind with a walk during the wintertime too.

This wouldn’t be a complete list without Horseneck Beach in Westport. One big plus if you plan for a quick visit during winter months? No crowds! A favorite beach to bring the dogs for a run, they’ll love you!

Fogland Beach in Tiverton RI is another beautiful scenic beach and would be so worth the ride if you live east of the Braga Bridge. And if you live in and around Fall River, lucky for you, it’s right there!

Another not to be forgotten beach is West Island in Fairhaven. Tucked away by car, as you have to get there with a little ride to the edge of town, then over a bridge and through the beach neighborhood of West Island. Once you’re there and especially in the quiet of winter, the panoramic views are truly breathtaking.

So if you’re looking for an outside spot to clear you mind and think it’s just too cold to go outside, think again.   You’ll be glad you decided for a winter walk or stop at the beach.
