Everyone knows that there's nothing like a weekend getaway to New England in the fall. It's especially good when it's a long weekend. No one knows it better than B.J. Novak.

Growing up in a Boston suburb, the Newton South High School and Harvard grad knows all about autumn in New England, which is probably why he chose to return here this weekend.

The Office producer, writer and actor was having fun and frivolity on the Cape over the holiday weekend, even taking time out to thank Cape Cod and Massachusetts chambers of tourism.

"Such a beautiful time on Cape Cod to visit family. Thank you so much @visitcapecod & @visitma for allowing me the opportunity to...."

Then Novak stopped. Apparently, the Instagram post was meant to troll other celebrities who weren't spending the weekend on the Cape, trying to make them think he's living the life of an influencer and somehow scored a free trip to the Cape in exchange for the quick Insta shout out.

"Haha totally kidding how mad did every Boston celebrity get thinking that I got a free trip..."

Looks like Novak chose to spend some time at the Whale Walk Inn and Spa in Eastham on the outer Cape. He gave a legit shout out, "but for real thank you @whalewalkinn @hot.chocolate.sparrow."

The Hot Chocolate Sparrow is a candy, coffee and gift shop in Orleans.

No telling how much free fudge Novak got for the Instagram mention to his over one million followers.

Eat your hearts out, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and John Krasinski.
