To the Top 10 Seniors of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School,

You are inspiring. 2020 dealt out a tough hand. For your Senior year, your biggest concern should have been acing your exams and shopping for prom outfits. Instead, you were faced with roadblocks. You were plucked from your classrooms and exiled to finish your Senior year in your bedrooms. You could have crumbled but you chose to adapt, and not only got to the finish line, but finished with flying colors.

I hope you have taken a moment to give yourself a pat on the back. You have spent countless hours researching, reading, writing, and planning for a future. To plan for the future is great, but it’s important to take a moment and let your present accomplishments sink in. Give gratitude to the journey you are on and give value to your incredible milestone before reaching towards your next one. Caps, gowns, and tassels are nice, but it’s nothing compared to the incredible accomplishment you have just achieved. The SouthCoast and I are doing everything we can to give you the gratitude you deserve.

You are go-getters. You have proven that you will never settle for “average," and you have given me hope for this country when I think about your future impact in the workforce.

A calm sea doesn’t make a strong sailor. I hope you take this year as preparation for any choppy waters you may come across in the future. Congratulations, Seniors! Onward and upward!
