A middle school in Acushnet has decided to ban homemade slime from the school after some kids became sick.

If you have a middle school aged student, chances are they've made slime at home.  Now, one Southcoast middle school is asking parents to be sure that slime doesn't make its way into school.  The principal at Ford Middle School says that several students were sent home sick with rashes after being exposed to a batch of homemade slime.

Good afternoon,

Some of our students have been making slime at home.  This slime has been brought to school as a toy and/or to sell to other students.

Students are now exhibiting reactions from the ingredients in the slime.  Nurse Monty sent several students home today that had direct contact with homemade slime.

I am asking that slime not be brought into school to sell or use.  I will be telling all students today that the slime should not be brought into school.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at michellesilvia@acushnetschools.us.

Thank you for your support with this matter,
Michelle Silvia
