Would You Bring Your Kids Here for Halloween?
Working in the same building as Michael Rock, I've been hearing a lot lately about how he wants to move Halloween to the Saturday before the actual holiday. I understand a lot of the reasons why moving it would make our annual celebrations better, but I'm not sold.
In some ways, he is right. Think about grabbing all that candy at night, knowing full well you have school the next day and the sugar rush that teachers have to deal with. Or how about adults, going out during the week to only wake up with a hangover for work the next day?
Don't get me wrong, I think the holiday needs to stay where it is. It's not only tradition but it would be like moving Christmas. You just don't do it.
This event that I'm about to share with you doesn't help my case but I do think it's an option for the kids to enjoy the holiday in a safe way.
Mall-O-Ween is taking place on the Sunday before Halloween, October 27, at the Silver City Galleria in Taunton.
I think at this point, with all the EEE curfews and warnings going on, it's a safe bet to take things inside. Especially since they will have a costume contest and treat-or-treating.
Visit the Facebook event page if you need more info.
I'm sure there are going to be more of these indoor events happening before or on the holiday. The question is, will you take the kids and go? Is this the future of Halloweens to come, especially if EEE continues to be a problem in future years?
Honestly, Halloween is my least favorite holiday but I do recall the fun of walking from house to house, ringing doorbells and getting candy and smiles from my neighbors (most of them anyway).
Are you thinking about attending these indoor trick-or-treat events?
