On Tuesday, April 2 at 10:11 p.m., Taunton Police and Fire arrived at the Highland and Winthrop Streets intersection, where a crash had occurred between a tanker truck and a sedan.

The initial investigation indicates that the tanker truck was traveling on Winthrop Street (Route 44) when the sedan entered the intersection from Highland Street and collided with the truck.

A portion of Winthrop Street was closed while the scene was still active and reopened at approximately 3 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation by the Taunton Police Accident Reconstruction Team and the Massachusetts State Police Detectives Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
