A 63 year old woman is hospitalized in Boston following a one-car crash Wednesday afternoon in Wareham.

Police Chief Kevin Walsh tells WBSM News, the woman’s car struck the corner of the drive-through area at McDonald’s on Cranberry Highway.  Chief Walsh says the woman may have experienced a medical issue which caused the crash.

Police and fire personnel responded, and transported the woman to Tobey Hospital for treatment of a head injury.

She was later transported by Med-Flight to a Boston-area Hospital for further treatment.

The building sustained moderate damage, according to Walsh. Wareham Building Inspector George Stuart was on the scene after the crash. He said the structure of the building was fine, there was just damage to the brick exterior. Police have not released her name. The drive-thru at McDonald's was closed as of Wednesday evening.
