How much fun would it be to skate just yards away from where the Patriots have played some of the most dramatic football games in history?

Patriot Place has announced the opening of Winter Skate for the 2019-2020 season. It's open, public skating at a temporary rink that has been set up just outside the Patriots Hall of Fame.

Historically, the SouthCoast has been known more for its roller skating rinks than its ice rinks; however, open skating at Driscoll and Hetland Rinks is always a fun family activity in the winter. It's a great way to get out of the house and get some exercise. There's nothing like the rush of cool air inside your chest as you're skating around and around on fresh ice laid down by the Zamboni.

While skating at Driscoll or Hetland Rink is enjoyable, there's something even more invigorating about skating outdoors on a pond-like surface. That cool air isn't just from the rink, it's fresh winter air. The cold sometimes stings the inside of your lungs to let you know who's boss.

Winter Skate is professionally maintained and offers day and evening public skating.

According to the Patriot Place website, "the 60-by-140-foot, refrigerated ice surface is designed specifically for recreational skating, non-contact hockey and figure skating. The rink features an observation deck for non-skaters. Large enough to accommodate beginners and experts alike, the professional surface provides ideal skating conditions at all times.  On-site skate rentals, concessions and bathrooms are available and parking is free."
