Beloved Patriot Place Theater Will Close Its Doors for Good
The Showcase Cinemas inside Providence Place Mall just closed its doors for good a few days ago, now another popular Showcase location will be following suit.
The theater chain released a statement that their Showcase Cinemas de Lux at Patriot Place would be closing its doors in early 2026.
Citing "a business decision", a company spokesman confirmed that the theater chain had agreed with their Patriot Place landlord to end their lease agreement and operations at the 14-screen theater would cease just after the holidays.
The latest in a series of Showcase Cinema closures is probably the biggest shock yet.

Showcase Cinemas de Lux at Patriot Place was more than just movies. Along with the 14 theaters, there was a restaurant and full-service bar. There was also a live theater at one point, but that was already replaced by New England Public Theater earlier this month.
Perhaps that should have been an early sign that things weren't going to last at the Showcase Cinemas either, because now the chain has confirmed the closing of the entire property by early 2026.
What’s Next for Patriot Place’s Theater Space?
Neither Patriot Place nor Showcase Cinemas have commented on what might replace the massive theater located at the Patriots Hall of Fame end of the shopping complex, yet that hasn't stopped the internet from speculating.
Some say a conference center will take over the theater space, while others think a performing arts space similar to the MGM Music Hall at Fenway could be an option.

Fingers crossed the North Attleboro, MA and Warwick, RI Showcase locations aren't next.
