Massachusetts Stadium Ranked America’s Best World Cup Venue
Gillette Stadium has hosted some of the biggest sporting events and concerts in New England history, but this one feels like a pretty cool win for Massachusetts.
According to a ranking shared by the New York Post, Gillette Stadium in Foxboro was named the No. 1 World Cup venue in the United States for fan experience. Out of 11 U.S. stadiums, Gillette came out on top with a score of 8.08, just ahead of Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City and Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
I have to say, not too shabby for our little corner of New England. The ranking looked at things like prices, nearby hotels, comfort and the overall experience for fans. Anyone who has been to Gillette knows it is not always the easiest place to get in and out of, especially when tens of thousands of people are trying to leave a Patriots game at the same time, but apparently the overall experience was strong enough to put Foxboro at the top.
Did the Tartan Army Help?
Perhaps Scotland’s Tartan Army had something to do with it? After all, the Scottish fans brought an unbelievable amount of energy to Massachusetts during the tournament. From the kilts to the songs to the packed bars and nonstop party atmosphere, they helped turn the area into a true World Cup scene. The overall vibe they brought was impossible to ignore.

Gillette may have earned the ranking, but the fans helped make the experience. For Massachusetts to beat out places like New York, Miami, Dallas and Los Angeles on a World Cup list is a pretty sweet flex, if I do say so myself.
