People of the SouthCoast, hear my words: there's a new sandwich in town and it blew my socks off.

From the first bite to the last (which only had about 25 seconds in between), I couldn't get enough of it. There was just so much flavor and if I wasn't looking out for my own well being, I would have totally ordered a second and even a third to take home for a late-night snack.

It's called the "Super Awesome Chinese Linguica Sandwich" and it can only be found on Acushnet Avenue at a Chinese place called Hong Kong Restaurant.

The odd combination of Chinese and Portuguese fusion is a flavor like you've never encountered before. Sweet, savory and spicy – it's the "triple S factor" that you never asked for, but will wish you did sooner.

The sandwich is stacked with the following ingredients from bottom to top:

  • A linguica link sliced in half so it sits flat
  • A fried egg
  • Chinese spare ribs
  • Spicy Portuguese red peppers
  • Chinese duck sauce (or orange sauce)
  • A fresh papo seco (Portuguese roll)

If that combination alone doesn't intrigue you, then you're clearly not a foodie.

Since this was supposed to be the week of the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament, restaurants across the SouthCoast are coming up with unique ways to keep the tradition alive with their own take and twist on Feast favorites, just like the "Super Awesome Chinese Linguica Sandwich."

The sandwich is only available for a limited time only and will be gone after Sunday, August 2. Don't miss out on something that could possibly blow your mind like it did for me.

Happy Chesta! (Chinese Festa)
